About the Temple
Nestled amidst striking natural gorges and boulder formations, Yaganti is famous for its unique layout where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Uma Maheswara in an idol form rather than a traditional Linga. Built during the 15th century by the Vijayanagara rulers (Harihara Bukka Raya), the temple is associated with the legendary sage Agastya. It is widely famous for its continuously growing Nandi statue, mystical caves (like Agastya and Sankara caves), and a sacred pushkarini fed by an underground water source whose origin remains a natural wonder.
